Shelterbelts
Shelterbelts are an important feature for farms, acreages, and businesses in the Canadian prairies. Not only do shelterbelts provide aesthetic value to properties, but they also supply privacy, security, and protection from wind, snow, and environmental elements. Studies have even tied shelterbelts to increased farm production.
Evergreen Valley Nursery grows evergreens and shelterbelt materials in Manitoba that are acclimated to our harsh prairie winters. We carry an inventory of large spruce, with tree spades to harvest, and skid steers to handle the trees. We also offer smaller sizes of evergreens, trees, and shelterbelt shrubs, while also having the necessary equipment and expertise to install.
Popular choices for shelterbelts include Colorado blue or green spruce, Scots pine, Black Hills spruce, native white spruce, golden willow, sharp leaf willow, Prairie Sky poplar, Siouxland poplar, Manitoba maple, villosa lilac, caragana, and cotoneaster.
We can supply and plant a few trees or a 1/4 mile of trees, as shown in the photograph below. This shelterbelt provides shelter for a farm home, office, and large number of cattle. The evergreens were installed in the 12 to 15 foot size range, along with 10 foot poplars and 4 foot caragana shrubs.

Residential
One of the best ways to make a noticeable difference in a home landscape is the addition of large, semi-mature trees. Large trees can be selected from our growing fields and installed with the Vermeer trailer mounted tree spade.
We offer Colorado blue or green spruce, Scots pine, ponderosa pine, Black Hills spruce. We can supply and install trees in many various sizes up to 15 feet in height, as our tree spades can dig trees up to 15 feet (4.5-5 meters).
Commercial
We are a small company with the ability to plant a few trees or a forest.
Evergreen Valley Nursery is involved both in bidding on commercial projects, as well as negotiated projects. We bid the green part of landscaping, as this is a good fit with our tree farm activity.
Commercial work involves supplying and installing trees for utility companies such as oil and gas, hydro, and highways. Farm shelterbelt and farm beautification is an important part of our activity.
We also provide expert consulting for insurance, oil and gas, engineering, environmental, and other companies on all areas related to tree planting, environmental clean up and stabilization, tree health and viability, and assessing tree damage and value.
Examples of our work include large scale tree planting along pipeline right of ways, highway beautification planting, large tree planting in farm shelterbelts, baseball park beautification and shelter planting, erosion stabilization along waterways, and remediation of polluted soil.
